BATTERY RECYCLING AND REUSE

KEEPING BATTERY SCRAP FROM LANDFILLS

Since 2013, GM has recycled or reused 100 percent of the battery packs received from customers, including any packs replaced through warranty service.

Any battery materials left over from manufacturing Cadillac EVs will be 100 percent recyclable as well.

The recycling process allows us to recycle battery materials including cobalt, nickel, lithium, graphite, copper, manganese and aluminum, 95 percent of which can be used in the production of new batteries or for adjacent industries.

At GM, our goal is to source 100 percent renewable energy for U.S. operations by 2025 and to source 100 percent renewable energy for global operations by 2035.

SPRING HILL MANUFACTURING

GM’s largest facility in North America, Spring Hill Manufacturing, is expected to rely 100 percent on solar energy by the end of 2023. This facility produces Cadillac models^* like the all-electric LYRIQ^* and the internal combustion engine XT5 and XT6 models.

ARLINGTON ASSEMBLY

In Texas, GM’s Arlington Assembly has been powered by 100 percent renewable wind energy since late 2018. The facility produces Escalade models.^*

LANSING GRAND RIVER ASSEMBLY

GM’s Michigan facility produces the internal combustion engine CT4 and CT5 models^* and will use a portion of solar energy generated with technology from First Solar, Inc. The agreement sourced 180 megawatts, or roughly the yearly electricity use of ~ 47,882 U.S. homes.^*
