HOW TO OBTAIN A WARRANTY REPAIR

  • Warranty work needs to be completed by a GM dealer
  • Work done at independent shops may not be eligible for reimbursement
  • The vehicle needs to be diagnosed by a GM dealer first before they can determine if the warranty will cover the repair
  • There may be a diagnosis fee, which is reimbursed if the repair is determined to be covered by their warranty (otherwise, diagnosis fees are not refundable)
  • The dealer will discuss the next steps for the repair (whether parts need to be ordered, expected timing, etc.)
  • Rental/loaner cars vary by dealer — the dealer will discuss availability and options

NOTE: Recall work is always covered at no charge if completed at a GM dealer

If I sell my car, do the warranties transfer to the new owner?

Yes. Those limited warranties that are still active will transfer to the new owner. 2023 Escalade-V limited warranty transferability is subject to a 6 month retention policy from the date on which you take delivery. If ownership is transferred prior to this, The Bumper-to-Bumper, Powertrain, Sheet Metal, Tire and Accessory coverages under GM’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty will be voided. See dealer or warranty manual for more details.

Is there anything that will void my warranty?

Your warranty could be voided if the systems and parts under warranty are damaged by any of the following:

  • Damage due to accident, misuse or alteration
  • Damage or corrosion due to environment, chemical treatments or aftermarket products
  • Damage due to insufficient or improper maintenance
  • Damage due to contaminated, improper, or poor-quality fuel
  • Damage due to impact (e.g., flying debris)
Are GM accessories covered under my vehicle’s warranty?
If the GM accessory was installed prior to taking delivery (at the time of purchase), it will be covered under the applicable new vehicle warranty (Bumper-to-Bumper, Powertrain, etc.).

If the GM accessory was installed after new vehicle delivery, or replaced under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, it will be covered, parts and labor, for the balance of the applicable portion of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, but in no event less than 6 months/unlimited miles.

GM accessories sold over the counter, or those not requiring installation, will receive the standard GM Dealer Accessory Warranty of 6months from the date of purchase, parts only. GM Licensed and Integrated Business Partner (IBP) Accessories are covered under the accessory-specific manufacturer's warranty and are not warrantied by GM or its dealers.
If I have a service issue that I think is covered under warranty, what do I need to do?
  1. Take your vehicle to any authorized dealer facility to obtain service.

  2. Those repairs qualifying under the warranty will be performed at no charge, and diagnosis fees for those repairs will be refunded.

  3. Repairs which do not qualify will be charged to you.
What if a warranty concern is not handled to my satisfaction?
For best results, adhere to the following protocol:

  1. Discuss your concern with a member of dealer management. Normally, concerns can be quickly resolved at that level. If the matter has already been reviewed with the sales, service, or parts manager, contact the owner of the dealer facility or the general manager.

  1. If after contacting a member of dealer management, it appears your concern cannot be resolved by the dealer without further help, contact the Customer Assistance Center by calling 1-800-462–8782. Have the following information available: Vehicle Identification Number (VIN); dealer name and location; date of service; present mileage.

When contacting the customer assistance center, remember that your concern will likely be resolved at a dealer's facility. That is why we suggest you follow Step One first if you have a concern.
