OPEN AUTOSENSE POWER LIFTGATE HANDS-FREE
If enabled, the AutoSense Power Liftgate lets you open your liftgate, hands-free, simply by approaching the rear of the vehicle with your key fob.
ENABLING THE AUTOSENSE FUNCTION:
To use this feature, make sure the vehicle is in PARK and the AutoSense function of your liftgate is enabled. With the vehicle on, go to the Settings menu in your center display and select: Vehicle Settings > Comfort and Convenience > Hands-Free Exterior Storage Access > Open Only.
OPENING THE LIFTGATE:
If equipped and enabled, the liftgate may be opened by entering within 3 feet (1 meter) of the back of the vehicle with your key fob.
1. Approach the liftgate of the vehicle with your key fob.
‒ You must approach from farther than 10 feet (approximately 3 meters).
2. When you’re within 3 feet (approximately 1 meter) of the liftgate, chimes will sound and the exterior lights will flash.
3. If you stay in that area for four chimes, the liftgate will open unless cancelled.
4. You can cancel by:
‒ Using the Liftgate button (single press) on the key fob.
‒ Using the exterior Liftgate touchpad (on some models, this is an emblem).
‒ Stepping out of the area within 3 feet (approximately 1 meter) of the liftgate for more than a few seconds.
CLOSING THE LIFTGATE:
Close the AutoSense Power Liftgate by pressing any of these buttons:
- The Liftgate button in the rear of the vehicle, usually located on the liftgate trim (check your Owner’s Manual, as location may vary by vehicle).
- The interior Liftgate button near the driver’s seat (check your Owner’s Manual, as location may vary by vehicle).
- The Liftgate button on your key fob (double press* required).
*There is no need to hold the second press when operating the AutoSense Power Liftgate.
REACTIVATING THE AUTOSENSE POWER LIFTGATE FEATURE:
After closing your liftgate, you will need to reactivate the AutoSense functionality before using it again. Here’s how:
- Remain at least 10 feet (approximately 3 meters) away from the vehicle for over 20 seconds.
- Then, approach the rear of the vehicle with your key fob from a distance of at least 10 feet (approximately 3 meters).
If the key fob becomes muted, you can unmute it with these actions:
- Press any key fob button.
- Use the vehicle’s exterior door handle switch.
- Open and close any vehicle door.
DISABLING/RE-ENABLING THE AUTOSENSE POWER LIFTGATE:
- With the vehicle parked and the key fob within range, press and hold the Liftgate touchpad/emblem in the rear of the vehicle for over five seconds.
- Repeat this step if you want to turn the feature back on.
- Use the customization settings in the center display to turn the feature off or on:
– Off: Select Vehicle Settings > Comfort and Convenience > Hands-Free Exterior Storage Access > Off.
– On: Select Vehicle Settings > Comfort and Convenience > Hands-Free Exterior Storage Access > Open Only.
- When the AutoSense Power Liftgate feature is disabled, the liftgate will function like a traditional power liftgate.*
*If the power liftgate is disabled, this may also disable the AutoSense feature. When re-enabling the power liftgate, you must also re-enable the AutoSense function through the center display.
Note: The liftgate may not open with the steps described if your key fob has been muted. Follow the steps for Reactivating the AutoSense Power Liftgate Feature to unmute your key fob.
Note: If a trailer is attached and connected properly to the vehicle’s electrical system, the AutoSense Power Liftgate will be automatically disabled. Before attaching a trailer, it is recommended that you disable the AutoSense feature through the methods described in this guide.
