HOW TO USE FOLLOWING DISTANCE INDICATOR TO HELP PREVENT TAILGATING
1. Following Distance Indicator uses a forward-looking camera, or both a camera and radar sensors (depending on how your vehicle is equipped), to look directly ahead to monitor vehicles you’re following.
2. To turn Following Distance Indicator on, select the “Follow Distance Indicator/Gap Setting” page display in your instrument cluster. Once you select this, your cluster will display the following time to the vehicle ahead in seconds.
a. Following Distance Indicator displays don’t show if Adaptive Cruise Control is on, if your vehicle has that available feature.
3. If the system doesn’t detect a vehicle ahead or if a vehicle ahead is out of sensor range, the instrument cluster will display dashes instead of a following time.
Safety or driver assistance features are no substitute for the driver’s responsibility to operate the vehicle in a safe manner. The driver should remain attentive to traffic, surroundings and road conditions at all times. Visibility, weather and road conditions may affect feature performance. Read the vehicle’s Owner’s Manual for more important feature limitations and information.
